This Privacy Policy applies to the Edvisor product and accounts used to access the product, including in-product educational, administrative, and support-related interactions. It does not govern separate marketing websites, public-facing promotional pages, or third-party services except as expressly stated.
Edvisor is primarily offered in connection with authorized professors, institutions, and other educational organizations. Students generally access Edvisor only when invited or enabled by an authorized professor, institution, or other authorized educational user.

- product logs and diagnostic information
d. Product Analytics and Monitoring
We use analytics and monitoring tools, including tools such as PostHog and OpenReplay, to understand how the product is used, debug issues, maintain security, improve product performance, and enhance the educational experience. These tools may use cookies, local storage, session replay, or similar technologies within the product and may in some cases collect or process data associated with a specific user account, session, or device. We use this information only for product operations, support, reliability, security, troubleshooting, and product improvement, and not for advertising, sale of personal information, unrelated profiling, or third-party marketing.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information and related data only for legitimate product and educational purposes, including to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Edvisor product
- create and deliver AI-enabled coursepacks, assessments, grading workflows, and related educational features

We do not use student personal information for advertising or unrelated commercial profiling.
4. Student Privacy and FERPA
Edvisor operates as a service provider at participating educational institutions and may act as a "school official" or similar authorized service provider under applicable law, including FERPA, where applicable.
We process FERPA-related and other education-related data solely to provide contracted or authorized educational services. Student data remains subject to the control of the participating institution, and institutions may determine how certain educational records are accessed, corrected, retained, or deleted.
Because Edvisor is typically provided through an institution or educator, certain privacy requests may need to be routed through, coordinated with, or approved by the relevant institution, professor, or authorized educational administrator.
5. Artificial Intelligence and Data Privacy
Edvisor is an AI-driven educational product, and AI functionality is core to the service.
a. Enterprise AI Providers
Edvisor uses licensed commercial enterprise AI services, including enterprise offerings from OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude, for content generation, synthesis, validation, and related educational functionality.
b. No Training on Customer Data
Under our enterprise arrangements, institutional data processed through these services is not used to train shared foundation models.
c. Personal Data and Student Data Protections
Edvisor uses AI to process institutional content such as syllabi, course materials, and related educational documents. Personal or identifiable student data is not intended to be transmitted to third-party AI subprocessors for model processing. Where student submissions or student-generated content are processed through AI-enabled workflows, Edvisor is designed to limit personally identifying information and anonymize submissions before transmission to enterprise AI providers.
d. Purpose Limitation
AI processing is limited to educational and product functions authorized by the institution or educator, such as course content generation, structured feedback, learning support, and related academic workflows.
e. No User Opt-Out From Core AI Processing
Because AI functionality is fundamental to the operation of the Edvisor product, users cannot opt out of AI processing while continuing to use AI-dependent product features.
f. Human Oversight
AI may assist with content generation, grading support, analytics, and other educational workflows. However, instructors and authorized institutional users retain oversight over course setup, academic use, and evaluative decisions.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information with ad networks or third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary for the operation of the Edvisor product and related educational services, including to the following categories:
a. Institutions and Authorized Educational Users
We may share information with the participating institution and with authorized institution users, including professors, instructors, administrators, and other authorized educational personnel, as needed to provide, administer, support, secure, and evaluate use of the product.
b. Service Providers and Subprocessors
We may share information with service providers and subprocessors that help us operate the product, including providers of:
- cloud hosting and infrastructure
- database and storage services
- customer support tools
- analytics and monitoring tools
- security and logging tools
- enterprise AI functionality
- payment processing, where applicable
These providers are authorized to process information only for the limited purposes of providing services to Edvisor.
c. Payment Processors
Where payment processing is applicable, we may share necessary information with payment processors such as Stripe.
d. Legal Process and Protection
We may disclose information if required to do so by valid legal process, such as a warrant, subpoena, court order, or other lawful request, or when necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or compliance. We do not disclose institutional data to law enforcement absent a valid legal basis.
e. Corporate Transactions
We may disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable confidentiality and legal protections.
7. Analytics, De-Identified Data, and Product Improvement
We may use analytics data, including identified or identifiable data associated with user accounts, sessions, or devices, to operate, secure, debug, analyze, and improve the product.
We may also create and use aggregated, de-identified, masked, or otherwise privacy-protective data for internal analytics, testing, validation, security review, and product improvement. We do not use analytics data or de-identified data for advertising, sale, unrelated profiling, ad networks, or unrelated commercial purposes.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to:
- provide the Edvisor product and authorized educational services
- comply with institutional agreements and requirements
- maintain appropriate business, audit, and security records
- comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations
- enforce our agreements and protect the integrity and security of the product
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and the institutional relationship. Requests for access, correction, deletion, or stop-processing may also be subject to institutional requirements, legal obligations, backup and archival processes, security log retention, and FERPA-related or similar educational record constraints.
When information is no longer required, we will delete, de-identify, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with our retention practices and applicable law.
9. Security and Data Localization
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. These measures include role-based access controls, least-privilege permissions, encryption in transit, encryption at rest where appropriate, logging, and other security controls.
Edvisor’s primary hosting and storage infrastructure is located in the United States. However, authorized personnel, including authorized support or development personnel located outside the United States, may in limited circumstances have controlled, role-based remote access to production systems for maintenance, troubleshooting, and support. We do not state that institutional data is broadly transferred or replicated outside the United States solely because such limited remote access may occur.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law and the nature of your relationship with the institution, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
Because Edvisor is commonly provided through an educational institution or authorized educator:
- some requests may need to be directed to the relevant institution
- some requests may be limited by educational-record obligations, institutional requirements, or other legal constraints
- Edvisor may need to verify identity and authority before acting on a request
Edvisor does not currently offer self-service deletion through the product dashboard. Privacy and data requests should be sent to support@edvisor.ai.
11. Children’s Privacy
Edvisor is designed primarily for higher education and similar educational environments. It is not intended to be used as a general consumer product for children.
We do not knowingly market Edvisor directly to children under 13 or knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 except as may be provided through an authorized educational relationship and as permitted by applicable law. In some cases, individuals under 18 may access Edvisor through an authorized educational institution, professor, or program.
If you believe that personal information has been collected in a manner inconsistent with this section, please contact us and we will investigate and take appropriate steps.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version in the product or otherwise make it available through appropriate channels. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the effective date of the current version.
